The Biji-biji Initiative is a social enterprise that aims to share progressive ideas with everyone. We champion sustainable living, reuse waste creatively and we love collaborative production. By using discarded materials, basic electronics and passive building techniques we aim to inspire our surrounding with fresh and fun approaches to sustainable living. Biji-biji production is currently operating at our Biji-biji factory in Klang.

Biji-biji has developed Me.reka Makerspace into our main education center which is wholly-owned by Biji Biji Design Sdn Bhd. Me.reka Makerspace is currently operating at Publika in Kuala Lumpur. Me.reka is an innovative and alternative education space, created to challenge the limits of 21st Century designing and making. Me.reka aims to nurture the seeds of creativity; developing talent and entrepreneurs for the industries and businesses that will shape the future of tomorrow.


As our Marketing & Communications Coordinator:

You will coordinate communications at Biji-biji to deliver the media strategy, content production, dynamic media engagement, sharing our story and working closely with all teams to develop the brand. Though primarily based at Biji-biji HQ (Klang), you will work closely with Me.reka Communications Coordinator to coordinate and implement company-wide communications. As a start-up, we are looking for someone who is flexible within their role, not afraid to jump out of their job scope and learn new skills.


  • Coordinate and manage department (yourself and Me.reka Comms Coordinator) to tell Biji-biji’s story, through content creation, collateral development and PR.

  • Design and implement company-wide communication strategy.

  • Coordinate marketing campaigns and their execution, working closely with respective Project Managers.

  • Coordinate and oversee the development of Biji-biji and Me.reka's visual identity.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to improve internal communications.

  • Carry out certain hours of front desk duties per week.


Job Requirements:

  • You have 1-2 years of communications, marketing or PR experience, developing and implementing communication strategies and content creation (online and offline)

  • A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, marketing, Public Relations, Mass Communications, Communications, Business Communications, Design, Media, or other related field, is preferred.

  • Social media management: must have experience managing social media accounts & implementing campaigns.

  • Good creative writing is essential.

  • Experience with website content management (preferably using Wordpress)

  • Knowledge of email marketing (using Mailchimp, or other similar software)

  • Confident using Office and/or Gsuite

  • Must be confident in verbal and written English, preferably speaks Malay.

  • Familiarity with editing software is essential; Adobe Suite is prefered (Ai, Indesign, Premiere Pro, Photoshop and Lightroom

  • Skills and/or knowledge in copywriting, photography, videography, social media management, graphic design, digital marketing are preferred.



  • Must be adaptable and easy going, able to juggle personal workload and deadlines while coordinating ongoing/ future projects with the wider Me.reka team.

  • Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems quickly and effectively.

  • Willingness to work during evenings and weekends.

  • Team player.

  • Independent thinker, able to use own initiative to solve a problem.

  • Passionate about education and sustainability.


SALARY: Competitive
